SABI Design Expertise

A SABI National Examination for designers was created by SABI to train designers in order to attain a recognised level of competency.

Official Designer member status is awarded to successful candidates.

Training aspects in the course do not only cover theoretical knowledge of irrigation design like hydraulics, crop-water relationships and climate, but also include practical experience in the design, installation, maintenance and management of systems.

All members are bound by the SABI ethical code which, amongst others, requires that the design of an irrigation system should conform to the SABI norms for the specific region.

This ensures that the irrigator is provided with an irrigation system, which will ensure optimal use and management of the available water sources.

Irrigators experiencing problems with the operation of such systems should contact SABI for an investigation.
