New Year message from the SABI GM

Riana Lombard

It’s been another great one, with lots of hard work and little lows and great highs shared with members and colleagues. SABI would like to thank you all for your fantastic support during this year and we look forward to going into the New Year with you.

From all of us at SABI, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – and wherever you go and whatever you do this festive season, go well and travel safely.

Vriendelike SABI groete.

The SABI magazine is going from strength to strength and in its A4 format, it is
something to be proud of. Thanks to all the advertisers who made this magazine
viable. Congratulations to the editing staff for this highly professional publication.

SABI has progressed very well in recent years and the organisation is definitely moving in the right direction.

Voedsel sekuriteit is ‘n algemene onderwerp in vandag se tyd.

In the New Year lots of opportunities exist for SABI to involve producers more in the organisation. Water is a resource which is  scarcer and more expensive, while food security is a vital area for all. Energy costs also are in the equation. Producers certainly can only produce more in terms of quality and quantity if their irrigation systems and methods are regularly reviewed and improved. I think not all producers perceive the importance of water and irrigation in their farming enterprises – and therein lies new opportunity for SABI.

SABI needs to stay abreast of new technology at all times and in so doing ensure that the advice given to designers and producers keeps the irrigation industry on the right road. We need to be tuned into the new trends in irrigation in the world.

Ek wil namens SABI alle besproeiiers ‘n geseënde kersfees toewens en
voorspoed vir 2012! On behalf of SABI I’d like to wish everyone in the
irrigation community a blessed Christmas and a prosperous 2012!

I’d like to thank my predecessors for the vision and foundation
established during the past 35 years.

betrokke by verskeie bemarkings-
geleenthede om die instituut se
doelstelling te bevorder.
